Dr. Melanie Fowler
Dr. Melanie Fowler is the owner & Principal Dentist at Kalgoorlie Dental Surgery. Her treatments are gentle and professional. She qualified as a Dentist after graduating from the University of Western Australia with a Doctor of Dental Medicine.
Melanie enjoys all aspects of cosmetic and general dentistry. She has a special interest in Invisalign and veneer procedures and understands improving the appearance of a patient’s smile can greatly improve their confidence!
Dr Melanie and her husband, Derek have two young kids so when they are not working, they love spending time together renovating their home in Kalgoorlie and exploring the Goldfields region.
Derek Fowler
Co-Owner and Director
Derek is Director of Kalgoorlie Dental Surgery with a background in Accounting and Finance. He holds a B. Bus, is a qualified CPA and a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Derek also holds a position at the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder with responsibility for many of the key facilities in the City. Derek’s previous senior positions included in the Oil and Gas Industry in Australia and overseas.
Derek grew up in Tom Price and Pannawonica and feels right at home living in Kalgoorlie and exploring the wider Goldfields region. He is the joint proud owner of the beautiful heritage building of 45-47 Dugan Street and has recently overseen extensive renovations to Kalgoorlie Dental Surgery. Derek also loves supporting his family’s sporting and extra-curricular activities with two very active children!

Built in 1898, our beautiful heritage building sits proudly at 45-47 Dugan St, Kalgoorlie and no doubt has many untold stories in its walls. We are proud custodians of this piece of Goldfields history and have painstakingly restored and renovated the premises.

Oral Health Therapist
Lauren Palmer
Lauren is a registered Dental Therapist and has been in the dental industry since 2002. Lauren has been part of the Kalgoorlie Dental surgery Team since 2023. Prior to this her primary field of work has been working with children and their families within the WA School Dental Service for over 13 years.
During this time she has had the opportunity to build strong relationships with families of Kalgoorlie-Boulder as well as rural Goldfields towns. She has also been a tutor/mentor to final year Oral Health Therapy students during their placements in Kalgoorlie-Boulder (a role she has thoroughly enjoyed).
Lauren has recently completed a post graduate course with the university of Melbourne to expand her skillset. Lauren strives to provide a comfortable, safe and caring dental experience for all patients, especially children. She is very committed to continuing her dental education to heighten her ability to provide a high standard of care.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 young children, cooking, camping and enjoying the Kalgoorlie lifestyle.

Dr Jas Dhillon
Dr. Jas Dhillon’s career journey is one of profound transformation, marked by his passion for healthcare, compassion for others, and a deep commitment to personal growth. His career path is of resilience, adaptability, and an unwavering desire to make a positive impact on people’s lives.
Jas developed a strong sense of community and empathy from a young age. He always had a keen interest in science and human biology, and his passion for helping others grew alongside his academic achievements. After finishing high school, Jas decided to pursue a career in healthcare, drawn by the desire to contribute to the wellbeing of others in a direct, meaningful way.
Prior to becoming a Dentist, Jas worked as a mental health nurse for several years in a variety of settings, including hospitals, community clinics, and residential care facilities. His role involved providing support to individuals living with conditions such as anxiety, and depression. Jas’s patient-centered approach, coupled with his ability to communicate openly and listen empathetically, made him a trusted member of his healthcare teams. Jas’s transition from mental health nursing to dentistry was a gradual yet deeply transformative process.
Upon graduating with his dental degree, Dr. Jas Dhillon felt a deep sense of fulfillment. He recently joined the wonderful team at the Kalgoorlie Dental Surgery, where his focus is on specialized restorative dentistry, with a particular focus on treating patients with dental anxiety and phobia and comforting patients who are often fearful of dental procedures. This commitment is in line with the focus of dental care provided by Kalgoorlie Dental Surgery.
Lea Moran
Practice Manager
Our practice manager Lea was born in Kalgoorlie and raised in Perth. She has moved back to Kalgoorlie with her little family for a new adventure and has been in kalgoorlie for nearly 2.5 years now. Lea has nearly 20 years experience in the dental industry so her skills and knowledge has been wonderful for our entire team.
On Lea’s days off she is either running around to sporting activities with her kiddies or weekend visits to Bunnings to renovate her home.
Lea’s favourite part of dentistry is helping to improve a patients confidence with a new smile!
